The attitude towards death, euthanasia and physician assisted suicide - a romanian perspective

The attitude towards death and furthermore euthanasia and assisted suicide has an important cultural specificity. In this article the authors will explore the main factors that have shaped the romanian perspective on death, euthanasia and assisted suicide: the cultural roots, the public opinion and the deontological and legislative norms in this field. Even if there is no legal reglementation of euthanasia and assisted suicide in Romania these aspects are discussed in the romanian society and euthanasia and assisted suicide are recognized as important dilemmas in the medical practice.
